Why is a fighter like Wanderlei Silva getting facial reconstructive surgery?!? I guess even the toughest guys are sensitive about how they look. If I were him, I would have started his new look with fixing his ears. Wandy looks half as mean now. Why he didn’t wait til after his fight career, I don’t know but for his sake, he needs to watch out for those strikes to the face or we might just get the old Axe Murderer again.

He got it because after so many fights he has build up a face of scars and cuts easier, look at him pre-surgery and then back when he started in pride, looks very different, especially around his eyes.

The nose surgery was to correct a breathing problem caused by heavy damage from fighting. It will allow him to fight with his mouth closed which will make it harder to be knocked out and it will also boost his fight cardio. Removing the scar tissue was to prevent easy cutting during a fight.
