Headliners for UFC 101

With the stacked main event card of UFC hitting Philadelphia PA, every MMA fans should get some unanswered questions answered. Is BJ Penn the best lightweight in the world? Is Anderson Silva the best pound for pound fighter in the world? Can Ken Flo take that belt that he wants so much and can Forrest Griffin tough his way to a win against a technical MMA master?

Well we will find out Saturday but until then, these are my picks for the winners on the main card. Oh yeah, if you make any money on these, I want 10%!

Main Event: UFC Lightweight Champ BJ “The Prodigy” Penn vs Kenny “Ken Flo” Florian- This is going to be a very tough fight for both contenders. Both have could BJJ but Penn is world class. Both men are also great strikers but Ken Flo’s more versatile. BJ Penn has just come off of a devastating lost via Georges St Pierre while Ken Flo has never been better and he showed the world that with his win over Joe “Big Daddy” Stevenson. So with all that said and taken in to consideration…..

Pick: Kenny Florian def BJ Penn via TKO

Co Main Event: UFC Middleweight Champ Anderson “The Spider” Silva vs Forrest Griffin – This is going to be a brawl and a half just because Forrest is very aggressive and he likes to stand and trade. As does Silva. Silva has been dominating the UFC’s Middleweight division for so long now that he has been asked to move up to Lightheavyweight for a second time to fight Forrest. The first time he moved up was against James Irvin, he knocked him out in a minute. Forrest coming off a lose and losing his Lightheavyweight title to Rashad Evans is excited about the chance to fight the potentionally best fighter in the world.

My Pick: Anderson Silva def Forrest Griffin via Unanimous Decision

Main Card Fight #3: Welterweight Contenders Amir Sadollah vs Johnny Hendricks – Amir is well rounded but seems to have issues against strong wrestlers. Hendricks is an NCAA champ and is easily capable of giving Amir problems on the ground. I think Hendricks will get him to the ground and work his ground and pound.

My Pick: Johnny Hendricks def Amir Sadollah via TKO

Main Card Fight #2: Middleweight Contenders Kendall “Spider” Grove vs Ricardo “Cachorrao” Almeida – Both tough contenders in the Middleweight division, this fight could secure spots in the top 10 rankings. Almeida’s BJJ is world class and this could cause problems for the lenghty Grove who has only been submitted once but KO’ed in his other loses. Almeida being an ex King of Pancrase has won over top contender Nate “The Great” Marquardt which makes him a force to be reckoned with.

My Pick: Ricardo “Cachorrao” Almeida def Kendall Grove via Submission

Main Card Fight #1: Lightweight Contenders Josh “The Dentist” Neer vs Kurt “Batman” Pellegrino – Both men need this fight and do not need more blemishes on there records. Josh Neer with his Muay Tai and Wrestling has seemed to have problems with BJJ guys with more submission loses than decisions. Kurt Pellegrino has trained with world class BJJ guys like Renzo Gracie.

My Pick: Kurt “Batman” Pellegrino def Josh “The Dentist” Neer via Submission

Well these are my picks, like them or not and we will find out how accurate I am come this Saturday August 8th in Philadelphia PA. Can’t Wait!!!
