Although Cro Cop was suspended indefinitely after his fight with Junior Dos Santos at UFC 103 in Dallas, there are ways around his Dallas suspension. For example he could fight in different countries with different athletic commissions still under the UFC banner or he could simply fight in other MMA organizations. Still although, there has been no word whether or not Cro Cop will retire or not and also there has been no word from the UFC whether he will retire or not so let’s take a look at this timeline.
After Fight at UFC 103: Cro Cop- “I don’t think I have that hunger to compete anymore. Dos Santos would have won via decision”. “I also cant seem to get use to the octagon”.
A week or so after UFC 103 fight: “I think I will finish off the 2 fights still left on my contract with the UFC and then I will retire”.
2 weeks or so after the fight: “I think the best thing for me is to retire from fighting but I don’t know, I would like to see what the UFC has to say”.
Recently: Cro Cop has decided to finish out his UFC contract with 2 fights left.
As you can see, this is a confusing situation to say the least. Cro Cop doesn’t seem to know what he will do but he does seem to really not have that hunger and he is past his prime. In the heavily stacked heavyweight division, Cro Cop doesn’t fare well anymore. Some would say that Cro Cop should move down to light heavyweight where a man of his size properly belongs but still his mental game is no longer there. Until then we shall wait and see, and I will keep you all posted on your Mirko Cro Cop needs.
