Brett “The Grim” Rogers stands in at 6 foot 5, and 265 pounds. It is easy to say that he towers over #1 ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko but so has Andrei Arlovski, Tim Sylvia and Hong Man Choi and we all saw them loose to Fedor in the first round. So how would Brett Rogers be any different?

Brett Rogers, Fedor Emelianenko, Fedor Emelianenko to take on Brett Rogers in the fall on September 3, 2009 by thatmmaguy
Well one way that you could look at it is the Arlovski/ Fedor fight and the Arlovski/ Rogers fight. For most of the Arlovski/ Fedor fight, it’s safe to say that Arlovski was winning in the standup game until like Fedors coach said “Fedor was up to his old tricks. What exactly did his coach mean by that you might ask? During that fight Fedor was loosing the standup until he basically pretended he was hurt off the ropes, making Arlovski want to finish the seemingly hurt Fedor so Arlovski threw a flying knee and got caught with a mean right hook that KO’ed him.
Now let’s take a quick look at the quick 22 second bout Rogers and Arlovski had. During those 22 seconds, it was clear that Rogers was the better striker and that it was possible that Arlovski underestimated Rogers. This bout although was all Rogers when the Arlovski/ Fedor fight was all Arlovski until he was outsmarted by the Russian heavyweight.
So that leaves us to the Fedor/ Rogers bout set for sometime in november. I think it’s obvious what each fighter wants to do here. Rogers wants to keep this thing on his feet and if he can do that, then he will beat Fedor. But if Fedor takes Rogers to the ground then I think Rogers is in for a very short night. Because of experience in the game, I do believe that Fedor will get him to the ground and will submit him in his true Sambo style.
Just in case you missed both fighters bout with Arlovski, I will include them in this post. Enjoy.
